Abu Dhabi Beaches and Coasts

Enjoying the beauty of Abu Dhabi's beaches is an ideal way to spend your evenings - sky blue waters, white sandy beaches and beautifully designed landscapes that will unwind you from the stresses of city life. Like the parks, the beaches are busiest during the winter months and at the weekends (Fridays and Saturdays). Beachwear is acceptable at beach clubs and hotel beaches but swimmers should avoid excessively revealing swimming suits. Swimwear is not the custom on the public beaches in Abu Dhabi, so prepare for a few stares if you plan to strip off.

New Beach on Abu Dhabi Corniche

The most appealing features of Abu Dhabi are the Corniche which is a redeveloped leisure zone running parallel to the sea offering swimming areas, refreshment outlets, scenic gardens, walking pathways, beach volleyball pitches, children’s play areas and toilets. Its pretty walkways are used for roller skating and jogging. For cycling enthusiasts, a separate cycling track has been provided. The Abu Dhabi Corniche Beach Park is easily accessible for any length of visit. The facilities and amenities are great; your car can be kept nearby parking areas. At least 170 beach umbrellas have installed for those visiting the Abu Dhabi Corniche beach and who want to spend some time in the shade away from the hot sun. For enhances security in the sea, swimmers are guided by the floating fences at 40 meters into the sea and there are plenty of lifeguards around.

Al Bateen Beach

This beach is excellent for waterfront picnics. Al Bateen Beach attracts locals who go there to swim and fish on their weekends. But if you plan go into the water, be conscious of the many jet skis shooting about at quick speeds. The beach itself is not as loaded with amenities as other area beaches that are more geared towards western tourists, so take snacks and water, and bring your fishing rod! To reach Al Bateen Beach in Abu Dhabi, head west on 19th Street (Saeed Bin Tahnoon St) and turn left (south) when it ends, onto 16th Street. After about 200 metres, you will see the beach on the right in front of Sheikh Sultan Bin Sayed Playground.
